Future of technology in education – RWCC Essay

“Technology will never replace great teachers, but technology in the hands of great teachers will be transformational”

 

The intendment of education is to expand the horizons of individual human beings. It remits us a knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something enhanced. It dilates a perspective of looking at life. Education even helps us build opinions and have miscellaneous views on the various aspects of life. Similar to education, Technology is now a big part of our society and our foreseeable future. It is changing at a rapid pace, so much so that it’s challenging to grasp. This age of globalization is solely possible because of Technology, it is swiftly merging with our daily lifestyles, and effecting countenances like communication and education.

 

A great man once said that you should respect your parents because they passed their exams, without Google…Researchers estimate that 65% of children entering primary school will find themselves in occupations that do not exist today. Technology enhances laterally with Science, and the advanced technology of the modern times, suggests that the knowledge of science is vibrant among the masses and the education of science is adequate amidst the students, one of the reasons behind this is that the present-day education system, is in turn, affected by technology. Access to Education Technology and has given enormous opportunities for teenagers in many fields.

 

By looking at how we are dealing with this tech business, maybe,  in the near future, a child would not take birth until and unless his parents buy him an iPhone. Or maybe, in the near future if a teacher asks his student about the homework, the reply would be that, he uploaded it on Facebook. Now even if we put the humor aside, it is certain that Technology will consolidate with our education system complementary to how books have blended. The initiation of this prospect can be comprehended in the present world, with many EdTech companies prospering in the market. For example, Byju’s or Khan Academy. These companies have popularized ingenious, and productive ways to make education potent. This Education through Technology has not only made education effective and readily available but it also facilitates many opinions of diverse groups of people on the aforementioned material. This entrusts a wide conceptual range of understanding. In the traditional classroom, the teacher is the primary source of information, and the learners passively receive it. However, because of the access to information and educational opportunity that technology has enabled, in many classrooms today we see the teacher’s role shifting to the “guide on the side” as students take more responsibility for their own learning using technology to gather relevant information. Scientist predict that by the year 2020, Cloud-Based Education will be the rule, not the exception. This will start simply, with better aggregation of student metrics, more efficient data sharing, and more visual assessment results. And ultimately in the year 2028, New certificates of achievement and performance that are social, portfolio-based, and self-selected will begin to replace institutional certificates.

 

Certainly, there would be a few drawbacks in the future Education Technology, for example, the distraction would serve as the main problem for students who will apt to the online world for education, but that can be overcome very easily by applying Parental Locks. Teachers would also be affected by this emergence of technology in students life but they would always cope up and work towards the greater goal of a guru, which is to show the path of light to his/her students.
